Hong Kong Family Tours Tasmania

From Hong Kong To Fun Tassie Tours

I recently had the pleasure to take a family group of 7 (3 generations) from Hong Kong, on a great tour of Tasmania. Although taking a bit of a risk with the weather, being mid August, we were extremely lucky and experienced fantastic weather wherever we went.  Roads that had been closed due to snow in the weeks before, suddenly cleared and we had a hassle free tour seeing some amazing sites.

Of course coming from the heat of Hong Kong, my passengers were well rugged up in coats, parakas, scarves, beanies, and gloves, although most of the time I was in a polo shirt and short sleeve coat.  I nearly caused a panic when I put on a jumper to take them wildlife spotting around Cradle Mt at dusk, but it does get cold when the sun drops.  We had a great experience looking for wombats, wallabies, paddy melons,
and possums, stopping regularly to get some fabulous close up photos.  We finished the day with a indoor Aussie BBQ of steak, chicken, sausages, kangaroo and salad. All in front of the roaring log fire place.

Next morning we saw Cradle Mt at possibly its best, with the clear crisp sky contrasting with the majestic mountain trimmed with patches of snow and the spectacular Dove Lake.  We all had a wonderful morning exploring the walking track to Glacier Rock and then Pencil Pine Waterfall and the aptly named Enchanted Walk.

The next night was spent on the east coast to explore the breathtaking Bay of Fires and Freycinet Peninsular.  Stunning seascapes from imposing cliffs.  Although it was a bit late in the season for whales, we did see dolphins swimming off Cape Tourville. Port Arthur is always of great interest and the harbor cruise was just perfect, a beautiful day with smooth calm seas, resulting in great photos. It was a wonderful experience to be able to share the great beauty of Tasmania with such a interesting and friendly family group.
