Our 6 Day East Coast Scenic Tasmania Tour offers a fantastic holiday experience to several of the most scenic locations in Tassie. This tour is a great option for those that prefer not to cover the entire west coast... but certainly want to experience the beautiful Cradle Mountain. Starting in Hobart and concluding in Launceston city, we cover approximately 1150km, moving at a very managable pace with regular stops. This tour is designed to conclude on Friday evening leaving the weekend free to explore at your leisure.
Suitable for all ages and fitness levels, this scenic tour of Tasmania is great for couples, families, friends and YES we cater for Single travellers! This is truely an amazing, small group travel experience.

Day 1 - Arrive in Hobart
Arrive into Tasmania at your leisure and overnight at the elegant 4-Star Mövenpick Hotel. Check-in anytime from 2pm onwards. The Hobart waterfront and Salamanca areas are both within short walking distance.

Day 2 - Hobart to Port Arthur
This morning enjoy a guided tour of Hobart city. See beautiful Battery Point, Salamanca, the historic Female Factory & Cascade Brewery, including many of Australia’s oldest convict-built structures. Next head to the summit of Mt Wellington (1270m) which offers fantastic panoramic scenery in every direction.
Journey into the Coal River Valley for our lunch spot today, this is one of Tasmania’s premier wine regions. Visit the historic township of Richmond, with its beautiful stone arch Richmond Bridge, built by convicts in 1823. Stop at the boutique Federation Chocolate Factory just outside of Richmond.
Explore the Tasman Peninsula, Pirates Bay, Eaglehawk Neck, the infamous Dogline, Tasman’s Arch & Devils Kitchen. Tonight our lodgings are on the cusp of the Port Arthur World Heritage Historic Site.

Day 3 – Port Arthur to Bicheno
This morning partake in a 2.5 fully hour guided tour of Tasmania's Port Arthur Historic Site. Explore the most interesting buildings as we share stories of the convicts and their plight in the early days of settlement. Learn about the juvenile boys prison at Point Puer, the Isle of the Dead graveyard and the infamous Silent Prison.
We will also certainly include the memorial to the tragic events of 1996 on our site tour.
A 30min harbour cruise offers views to the outer areas of the site including the boat building yard and the harbour entrance which meets the Tasman Sea.
Next we stop at the colourful Port Arthur Lavender Farm before lunching at award winning Bangor Winery. Heading north up the east coast of Tasmania, stop at Raspins Beach for a sandy stroll with views to Maria Island off the coast of Orford. Next see the unique convict built Spikey Bridge and the captivating coastline at Spikey Beach over tea, coffee & biscuits. Swansea and the very scenic Great Oyster Bay area are next. Arriving in Bicheno for our evening accommodation we will squeeze in one last feel good (optional) activity by spotting the cute little Fairy Penguins arriving ashore in the township.

Day 4 – Bay of Fires & Launceston
Starting with the amazing Blow Hole in Bicheno. The multi-award winning East Coast Nature World wildlife park is often a tour highlight for many guests. See our native animals close up including Kangaroos, Wombats, Quolls, White Wallabies, geese, ducks and of course the Tasmanian Devils. Get as close as you will ever experience during the 20min Devil feeding presentation, this is a wonderful, interactive morning.
Enjoy Travelling Tasmania's most scenic coastal road to the truly stunning Bay of Fires. At Binalong Bay we stroll the white sandy beaches and sample fresh oysters from the Lease 65 Oyster Farm. Cheese tasting is next & Pyengana Dairy before journeying through an ancient Myrtle Rainforest and across the trail of the dragon near Derby.
Coffee break at Legerwood amongst the elegant carved memorial trees, before heading towards Launceston city for our evenings lodgings. We overnight just off the main city restaurant strip, there are many great options just minutes walk from your lodging.

Day 5 – Launceston to Cradle Mountain
Launceston is Australia’s 3rd oldest capital city and is well worth a mornings exploration. See the King Bridge, City Park, the heritage-listed Post Office and possibly the Holy Trinity Anglican Church buildings. We’ll also take a 40 minute stroll through the jewel of the city - Cataract Gorge Reserve.
Heading west into the Meander Valley, our lunch stop is a hidden gem in the forest at 41º Degrees South Salmon Farm. Learn how they sustainable & responsibly farm their own Salmon on location as we take a short tour of their grounds. Try locally made ice-cream and honey, with 50 flavours on offer at the renowned Melita Honey Farm in Chudleigh. Learn about Tasmania’s oldest and biggest Leatherwood Honey producer R. Stephens Honey in Mole Creek. A 1 hour guided tour of Tasmania's Marakoopa Caves follows, where million year old limestone & crystal formations are home to a natural population of glow worms!
This afternoon we journey up onto the central highlands plateau and Cradle Mountain National Park. As we ascend the scenery dramatically changes to a landscape like nothing else seen up to this point. Some up close wild animal & wombat spotting at dusk is always a treat for visiting guests. Tonight we lodge at the luxurious 4-Star Cradle Mountain Hotel.

Day 6 – Cradle Mountain & return to Launceston
Enjoy a buffet breakfast at Cradle Mountain Hotel to start your day. We’ll spend the entire morning soaking up Cradle Mountain area which is certainly one of the most photogenic and unique locations anywhere in Australia. Visit the gorgeous Dove Lake for breathtaking views of Cradle Mountain. A short walk to glacier rock provides an opportunity to enjoy the crisp mountain air - some of the cleanest in the world. Take the Enchanted Walk and see the beautiful cascades at Pencil Pine Waterfall. For plant lovers this is a great spot to introduce and show some our native & endemic plant species - Celery Top Pine, Waratah, Button Grass, Pencil Pine, King-Billy Pine & more.
Visit pioneer Gustav Weindorfer’s “Waldheim Cottage”, the man who made Cradle Mountain world famous. We will share stories of his exploration and efforts to conserve & protect this park. Enjoy the Weindorfer's Forest Walk just behind the Chalet - one of our favourites!
After a tasty group lunch you will have an opportunity to explore the Wilderness Gallery which has some great landscape photography of this are and much more. A pre organised, afternoon return coach bus will take you back to Launceston for this evening. Stop at the famous Ashgrove Dairy for some snack en route. Friday night in Launceston has plenty of options for dining & entertainment.
Arriving back in town approx 5.30pm, this evening marks the conclusion of your scenic touring package. We hope you will take home many great memories, photographs & stories from your time with us and are grateful for the opportunity to host you in Tasmania. This evening accommodation is not included in this package but can certainly be organised upon request.
